Our Jewish Wedding - November 24, 2002

After looking at a couple of places to have the wedding in Westchester, and mom and dad checking a couple of places on Long Island, we found the most beautiful reception site!

The Harrison House - Glen Cove, Long Island

There are a couple great interior pictures at The Harrison House Special Events site. [EDIT: The Harrison House is now known as the Glen Cove Mansion. Interior shots can be found here, but the photos do not do it justice.] This place totally rules. When we pulled up, I was whimpering because I thought there was no way in HELL this would fall into the price range we were looking at. We walked in, and the entrance is just beautiful. I whimpered some more. Gail, the Special Events Manager, showed us where the ceremony and reception was going to be. I whimpered some more. Then she showed us where the cocktail hour would be. And I... yup... you guessed it... whimpered some more! Then we sat down with her, she gave us the prices, and the only problem was that if we wanted an April wedding (as we originally wanted), it would be $10 per person more. So, we very quickly decided that we in fact wanted to get married on March 23, 2002 instead!

We looked around a little more before deciding. I walked in to the ceremony location and I started to cry :~) I knew this was the place, and we reserved the date right away (after consulting with dad of course)!

Not only is it the coolest place to get married, but when the reception is over (at 1am), there's a pub upstairs open until 4am and... the best part... BOWLING DOWNSTAIRS! I am TOTALLY getting a bowling ball in my wedding colors (uh oh, mom is going to kill me ;).

We did part of our registry at Macy's. That little scan gun thingy is cool ;)

January 20, 2001
We finished our registry at Fortunoffs. I love that place. They have everything.

It wasn't a tough decision. We booked our wedding band. It's the same band Shari & Tim used, and we loved them then and still loved them after seeing a showcase. We went with Heart & Soul, a Franklin Wayne band.

February 3, 2001
Everything's moving along smoothly ;)... We booked our quartet for the ceremony and cocktail hour. We went with Heart Strings. They're amazing, plus the first violinist was my orchestra conductor in high school, as well as Shari's and Cristy's (one of my bridesmaids). I love the personal touch to it :)

Booked the photographer. We're using Joe from Marco Studios. They're doing our video too.

March 19, 2001
YAY! Honeymoon booked :).... 2 days, 3 nights in Los Angeles (including a visit to Universal Studios), then off to Bora Bora for a week, back to L.A. for 2 days, and then home. By that time, we'll both be missing the cats ;)

Though it isn't really related to my wedding planning, my niece Sydney Paige was born :) She's precious, but unfortunately too young to be a flowergirl by 3/23/02 ;)

Today we got the contracts on the town house in Brewster, NY that we're buying. We're not going to close on it until February 15, 2002, so it'll really be a new place for us to begin our new chapter in our lives together :)
